Pickering Nautical Village and Beach is located in Pickering, which Toronto’s neighbouring city to the east. You can visit this most adorable village by car or boat.
My brother and I decided to check out Pickering Beach, a lake side community, beach and all around nice destination at the end of September. This was my first visit to that part of Pickering and I was impressed. As you enter the village, there are the cutest two story white-washed townhouses comprised of personal homes and businesses that line the street. At the very end of the street is Lake Ontario. There is ample street parking as well as a parking lot as you approach the beach. The community is clean and has a really nice overall vibe.
This area has something for everybody. As we walked over the bridge that led to the actual beach area, we checked out the marina and the lovely flower gardens complete with a sitting area. The flower gardens offered views of the marina as well as the beach and felt like a small sanctuary for quiet reflection.
Once you’re by the beach, you’ve got some choices; you can take a stroll or jog down the boardwalk, hang out at the many picnic spots, relax on the beach with a book or some friends or hang out by the rocks which gives you an undisturbed view of the sun’s rays bouncing off of the surface of the lake and all of the activities going on such as windsurfing, kayaking and beach volleyball.
If you’re into photography, the ops are endless. Spend a few hours or the enjoy the day here. Either way, you’re guaranteed a good and relaxing time. A total gem located right outside of the big city.
Get it:
The only beach blanket you will ever need. Thin and portable and comes with a travel bag for storage. Bonus: you can use it as a backdrop for picture taking!
The ultimate carry on. Use it for your getaways, trips to the beach and shopping when you're back at home. I love mine and bring it everywhere.
